Oak, reclaimed teak, mindi: the wood comes first

A hallway storage piece takes the daily traffic of a home in its stride: keys dropped in passing, post piling up, bags set down on the way in. We cut ours from solid woods chosen for their resilience, from dense, stable oak and reclaimed teak that shrugs off damp to light mindi and boldly grained acacia. No chipboard and no veneer: every sideboard, chest or compartment unit is solid through, and part of the range is FSC®-certified. The grain stays visible, the material breathes, and each piece carries the character of the tree it came from.

Mortise-and-tenon joinery, delivered assembled

Our storage furniture is built using traditional joinery, with mortise-and-tenon for the frame and grooved panels for drawer bases. There are no exposed screws and no industrial glue. Finishes are plant-based oils or water-based varnish, free of harsh solvents, to keep the wood's natural grain intact. In practice, that means 80% of our furniture arrives already assembled: ready to stand against a wall or beneath a mirror, no flat-pack instructions required, and no Sunday afternoon spent working through them.

Built to age well, never to be replaced

The hallway is the most-used passage in the house, which is exactly where solid wood earns its keep. It weathers rather than wears, and can be sanded and re-oiled years down the line instead of ending up in landfill. When a storage piece no longer fits a home, our Tikagreen programme gives it a second life: reclaimed, restored, and put back into circulation. A practical way of applying circular economy thinking to an everyday piece of furniture, rather than buying a new one every few years.
