Coat Racks and Hallway Shelves

In a hallway, the most useful wall-mounted coat rack is often the one you compose yourself: three, four or six wall hooks lined up at everyone's height, children included, rather than a single rail that overflows by winter. Our wooden coat hooks are cut from oiled oak, light in tone and fine in grain, or from varnished ash, in round or elongated shapes from 4 to 12 cm, with a few terrazzo hooks to break up the wall. The wood is solid through, part of the range is FSC®-certified, and each hook fixes to an ordinary hallway wall in minutes. A winter coat, a bag, a scarf: every hook carries what it is given, without play or noise, year after year.

A hallway wall shelf does not need to be deep: 12 to 20 cm is enough for keys, post, a plant or a frame, without ever catching a shoulder in the corridor. Our wooden wall shelves come in 60 cm for a small entrance and 100 or 120 cm for a corridor, in untreated teak that weathers to grey, varnished acacia, sheesham paired with a marble top, or woven rattan for the tiered models. Each wall shelf arrives ready to hang and sits as comfortably above a hallway console table as above a shoe cabinet. One rule only: a sound wall or the right fixings, and the shelf holds without a sag.

A coat hook carries kilos of damp wool every winter, a hallway wall shelf is loaded and unloaded ten times a day: small objects, but they live hard. We make them to the same standards as our furniture: solid wood rather than chipboard that splits around the screw, plant-based oil or water-based varnish finishes free of harsh solvents, and species chosen to hold up, teak and oak first. Over time, the oak hook deepens slightly, the untreated teak shelf takes on its silver tone, and a light sanding followed by oil is enough to erase a scratch. The hallway wall is fitted out once, and stays put.
